This will be as tough as it gets for RHP Adrian Houser. Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts are some of the most lethal hitters against RHPs in the game with them both ranking in the top 25 in hits. It’s then followed by veteran J.D. Martinez who has hit 25 home runs and is expected to be back in the lineup tonight.
The Dodgers have the ability to stack righties against Houser and his reverse splits. RHB are hitting for an average of .311 while LHB are walking a ton against Houser. You can find Houser’s advanced metrics provided by Baseball Savant. The numbers are glaring. In simple terms, Houser is allowing a ton of hard contact and isn’t striking out batters at an efficient rate. His BB% ranks in better half of the league, but he struggles to keep LHB off the basepaths.
The way we cash this player prop bet is if Houser doesn’t record an out in the fifth inning. Luckily for us, he’s stayed under this prop in nine of 16 starts and is averaging just 83 pitches per outing this season. The Brewers bullpen is relatively fresh with a day off yesterday and won’t be shy to pull Houser early, especially if he has to face the Dodgers lineup a third time through.
