Beating Lamar won’t be as easy as beating Butler. The Cardinals are off to an impressive 10-2 start that saw them beat Texas A&M and Kansas State in consecutive weekday games earlier this season. Lamar’s offense came through for 11 runs in those two contests.
The Cardinals have a leg up in the rest department. They didn’t play earlier this week and will have their primary weekday pitcher, Quinn Waterhouse, available tonight. Waterhouse has a 1-0 record and an ERA of 2.53 through three appearances and 10.2 innings pitched. He was on the mound for Lamar’s road win over Texas A&M and gave up only two hits in three innings before Lamar’s bullpen limited the Aggies to only two more runs the rest of the way.
If Lamar can win against a ranked SEC team, it can keep tonight’s game against LSU close. The runline of 6.5 is disrespectful to a program that has been trending in the right direction for years and already has a massive upset to its name.
