Geraldo Perdomo has quietly been having a great season for the Diamondbacks, but OddsShopper does not love this spot in San Francisco against Anthony DeSclafani. For one, Perdomo will likely be leading off, and Arizona’s bottom of the order is the only part of the lineup not getting on base right now, meaning far fewer RBI opportunities. Plus, despite Perdomo’s RBI total looking strong at 31 for the year, it has been boosted by the 16 he recorded in April. He only had eight RBIs in May and just seven in June, and he has only driven in one run over the past eight games.
There is nothing special about DeSclafani in this matchup since Perdomo is a switch-hitter and DeSclafani’s numbers are slightly worse at home. That said, he has a solid FIP of 3.84, which indicates that he may be getting a bit unlucky with his 4.38 ERA. And even if he does struggle a bit, the trouble spots in terms of power and run production come later in the Diamondbacks lineup — not so much with Perdomo at the top. Perdomo is a modest home run threat, hitting five on the year and posting decent slugging and ISO marks of .458 and .161, but that is not enough to bank on an over play for RBIs.
