But behind him is former teammate Freddie Freeman, who is hitting .340, leading the league in doubles and, more importantly, is tied for the league lead in runs scored. Freeman headlines a stacked Dodgers lineup that can drive him in with one swing of the bat from Will Smith, Max Muncy or J.D. Martinez.
Brandon Pfaadt, Freeman’s counterpart tonight, may have nightmares after this one. The Arizona Diamondbacks right-handed rookie has a 7.11 ERA and has been getting crushed by left-handed hitters all season long. He is allowing lefties to hit for an average of .305 and has surrendered 13 extra base hits in 95 at-bats. The advanced metrics do not do him any justice. Baseball Savant shows that Pfaadt is allowing a ton of hard contact and not striking out batters at a winnable rate.
