Best Home Run Picks Today: FanDuel’s Dinger Tuesday

Nick Castellanos +450 | Philadelphia Phillies vs. Toronto Blue Jays

This series between the Phillies and Blue Jays does not only feature power hitters throughout the lineup but is also mightily important to both teams in terms of the Wild Card race. The Phillies currently have a 2.5-game lead in the standings, while the Blue Jays are holding on to the third and final Wild Card spot in the American League. Let’s dive into Nick Castellanos and the hot streak that he’s on.

Castellanos has proven his All-Star status this season, as he has 20 home runs and five in his last 10 games. The last 15 days for Castellanos have been magical: He’s hitting .327 and slugging at a .673 rate. He’ll be matched up against LHP Yusei Kikuchi, who ranks in the 17th percentile in average exit velocity and 30th percentile in barrel percentage. The lefty-righty matchup suits Castellanos well, as he is hitting .326 against lefties and has six home runs in 129 at-bats.

Juan Soto +430 | Baltimore Orioles vs. San Diego Padres

Juan Soto has struggled as of late, but this is a get-right spot for the slugging 24-year-old. He gets a righty in Jack Flaherty whom left-handed hitters have mashed this season, including in his time with the Cardinals. Lefty hitters have a .307 batting average and slugging rate of .484. Of the 11 home runs he’s given up, eight have come off left-handers.

Soto’s .187 batting average against right-handed pitchers in August is concerning, but he still tanked three balls out earlier this month. Trust Soto in this spot against Flaherty, whom he has seen 11 times in his career.
