Best Mets-Braves Odds, Pick & Prediction: Atlanta Marching Along
OddsShopper shows the Braves at north of a -200 favorite, making it tough to back them. However, the run line is the best spot to attack, with -115 available across the industry. Even at home, there are a lot of ways the Braves can get this done by two runs or more, and the numbers show that there is a lot to like.
The Mets are 59-67 on the year and one of the more disappointing teams in the league. They bring Tylor Megill to the mound, and he has a 7-6 record and 5.53 ERA that seems to only be getting worse as the season goes on. In addition, Megill struggles on the road, with a 2-4 record and a whopping 8.2 ERA away from home. Add in a .351 OBA, and it is safe to say the Braves offense will have a ton of chances to rack up runs.
Atlanta is a fantastic 80-44 squad that is 42-22 in its park. Despite the ugly loss yesterday, this is a team no one wants to face in its stadium, and that is exactly what the Mets are dealing with tonight. Bryce Elder gets the ball for Atlanta, and he brings some respectable numbers into this spot. He sits at 9-4 on the year with a 3.46 ERA. At home he is 5-1 with a 3.12 ERA, so bettors should feel comfortable with him getting the ball. August has not been the most effective month for Elder, but his last start was a crisp seven innings of one-hit ball at home, providing all the necessary confidence to back him. Plus, he gets the Mets tonight, who are struggling across the board.
Everything points to Atlanta bouncing back in a big way, but getting the right price is always the key. The juiced moneyline is a total fade even though the Braves should roll, but the run line at -115 is easily worth some exposure. Atlanta should rack up the runs and win this one going away as it continues its march to a deep postseason run.
