Best MLB Player Prop Bet: Chris Bassitt O/U 1.5 Walks

Chris Bassitt and his $21 million a year contract have not lived up to the hype through three starts. He was torched in his first start of the season against the St. Louis Cardinals. He allowed nine earned runs in less than four innings of work. His second start is where his command was nowhere to be found. Bassitt issued a free pass to five batters on his way to 109 pitches. He followed that up with his best outing against the underwhelming Detroit Tigers last Thursday. He struck out seven batters but still walked out three Tiger hitters. Tonight, he’s in for a rude awakening against the Houston Astros.

The Astros have plenty of star power, especially in the middle of their lineup. Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman both rank in the top five in walks by a hitter and MVP candidate Yordan Alvarez is not far behind as he’s in the top 35. Bregman and Alvarez also have a rich history against Bassitt in his time with the Oakland Athletics. They are a combined 11-29 with four home runs. Do not be surprised if Bassitt pitches around Alvarez to get to Jose Abreu who is a career 3-16 off Bassitt.
