Best MLB Player Props to Watch Today: Picks for Jose Siri, Carlos Rodon
Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees | 7:05 p.m. ET on TBS
Isaiah’s Target: Jose Siri at BetMGM
The books are showing Jose Siri absolutely no respect today. The 28-year-old outfielder may not be the most efficient hitter, but the odds for him to make minimal contributions have just gotten far too long — we can buy him at +100 (50%) via BetMGM to record a single base. Siri has 53 hits in 70 games this year while hitting .222. Although plenty of those games were multi-hit performances, this price won’t be getting any lower.
Although some other books have decided this number — or at least one close to it — is efficient, others have not. You’ll find Siri listed at odds of -140 (58.3%) to record a hit at FanDuel, which is functionally the same market as this one. The matchup against LHP Carlos Rodon isn’t perfect, as Rodon has a tendency to shut down opposing LHBs, but Siri is hitting exactly .222 against both RHPs and LHPs this year. Further, Rodon’s xBA has ticked up from .198 last year to .265 this year.
Sometimes the odds are just too good to pass up. With Siri at such long odds just to record a single, well, single — or any other type of hit — I’m finding it hard to pass up on the chance to get a unit of action down at this number, especially with other books listing a shorter price. We just need Siri to get a hit half the time to break even. Siri has recorded at least one hit in nine of his 13 starts since the All-Star Break.
