The Tigers will tee off against Kansas City’s RHP Jordan Lyles (0-11), who has given up a whopping 41 extra-base hits in 14 starts this year, 18 of which have gone to left-handed batters. With him on the mound, I’m excited about Detroit’s prospects on offense.
We’ll target one of Detroit’s best left-handed batters tonight: Zach McKinstry. McKinstry should record an extra-base hit or two singles against Lyles. He has 13 extra-base hits to his name this year, all of which have come against right-handed pitchers. I also like him to get a home run at the current asking price.
The Royals and Tigers will play in Detroit’s Comerica Park this evening. McKinstry has eight extra-base hits here with an OPS of .807, which is substantially better than his road OPS of .622. McKinstry also leads the Tigers in expected weighted on-base average at .357.
