This MLB hitter prop has been a favorite of mine all season long. Not only do you have to depend on the batter you’re backing but also the teammates surrounding him in the order. Tonight, Lane Thomas gets LHP Carlos Rodon, who has been a disaster for the New York Yankees. He can’t stay healthy, and when he is on the mound, he has been ineffective. His ERA is currently at a season-high of 7.33, and he is coming off a disastrous home start against the Houston Astros. Rodon’s splits against righties are where Thomas can take advantage of him: the lefty has allowed righties to hit for an average of .235 this season and an OPS of .826. Enough about Rodon. Let’s dive into Thomas.
Thomas is one of the most underrated batters the game has — especially against LHPs. Thomas has the second most hits against LHPs this season behind Freddie Freeman, who he trails by one. Not only is he crushing the baseball, but he has scored the third-most runs in the league against LHPs. That’s pretty impressive for a guy on an underwhelming Nationals team. He’ll be slotted in the two-hole today hitting in front of Joey Meneses, who is another lefty killer and has driven in Thomas all season long.
Thomas put together back-to-back games of at least four hits, runs and RBIs in Washington’s series against the Phillies, and he’ll look to make it four out of his last five games cashing the over tonight. With Rodon having the worst season of his career and Lane Thomas being a cash cow with this prop against LHPs, we’ll gladly take the over in one of the more hitter-friendly parks in baseball.
