Best Padres-Cubs MLB Player Prop Bet: Seth Lugo Stuns Cubs (April 27)

Day baseball at Wrigley Field is a tradition like no other. We cashed in Game 1 of this series when we took the Cubs to score over 1.5 runs through the first five innings against southpaw Blake Snell. Now we’re backing Seth Lugo as our top MLB player prop bet via FanDuel.

Best MLB Prop Bet: Seth Lugo O/U 4.5 Strikeouts

Former reliever Seth Lugo joined the San Diego Padres after a seven-year stint with the New York Mets. Lugo made the transition to starting pitcher, and it’s been a good experiment by the Padres. Lugo has a 2.78 ERA through 22 innings and a 24% strikeout rate. Today at Wrigley Field, it has the makings to be an efficient start for Lugo that can eat up innings for the Padres.

Lugo has pitched six complete innings in three of four starts, which have resulted in him eclipsing at least five strikeouts in all starts. On paper, the Chicago Cubs are a tough team to strike out. But it’s important to dive into lineups when they’re submitted. The Cubs have five hitters that are premier strikeout candidates for Lugo. Dansby Swanson, Patrick Wisdom, Seiya Suzuki, Trey Mancini and Tucker Barnhart all strike out against righties at a 23% clip or higher.

Last night, teammate Michael Wacha was able to fan this same lineup five times. His strikeout rate is only 20%. Six-plus strikeouts at +163 on FanDuel is a ladder bet that is in play as well.
