Game two in the series between San Diego and Los Angeles features Michael Wacha and Lance Lynn as the starting pitchers for their respective teams. Let’s examine the MLB odds and best Padres-Dodgers bets by utilizing OddsShopper’s model to make a prediction.
Best MLB Padres-Dodgers Bet & Prediction | MLB Odds Overview
First Pitch: 10:10 p.m. ET
Venue: Dodger Stadium
Starting Pitchers: Michael Wacha (RHP – SD) at Lance Lynn (RHP – LAD)
The Dodgers’ Gavin Stone got roughed up in the series opener yesterday on the way to an 11-8 victory for the visiting Padres.
Tonight LA will try to bounce back behind Lynn, with oddsmakers installing the Dodgers as -165 favorites on the moneyline. The total for this game is at 9 runs at the time of this writing.
San Diego Padres MLB Odds and Analysis
One of the few bright spots for an otherwise dismal season for the Padres (68-77 overall) has been the productive pitching out of Wacha.
In his first season with the team, the veteran righty has gone 11-3 with a 2.99 ERA and 102:38 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 111.1 innings. He wasn’t quite at his best his last time out though, allowing seven hits and three earned runs across four innings in a 5-1 loss at home against Philadelphia.
It’s going to be another challenging test for Wacha tonight against a powerful Dodgers lineup, whom he’s yet to face in 2023. He’d love to get continued run support after San Diego put up 11 on Monday — the heart of the order, Juan Soto, Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts, combined for eight eights and eight runs batted in.
Focusing on the posted MLB props and bets for the Padres, there’s not a ton of value on the board for Tuesday up against Lynn, according to OddsShopper. We’ll see if any odds shift after lineups come out.
Los Angeles Dodgers MLB Odds and Analysis
As a team, the Dodgers are mired in a bit of a slump, as they’re 4-7 over their last 11 heading into Tuesday night’s game.
Lynn, meanwhile, had an excellent start to his career in a Dodgers uniform, but the wheels have since fallen off. Over his last two starts, losses to Atlanta and Miami, he’s surrendered 14 hits and 15 earned runs while giving up six home runs. The season ERA is now up to 6.09 ERA as a result.
We’ll see if Lynn can right the ship on Tuesday night. Fortunately for him, he has the luxury of being backed up in a big way by Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, and the Dodgers offense. Only the Braves have totaled more homers and runs batted in thus far in 2023.
If we sort by OddsShopper (OS) Rating for the available bets on the Dodgers side, we find Lynn under 5.5 strikeouts with a score of 3, followed by James Outman under 0.5 hits (OS Rating: 2) and then Max Muncy to hit a home run at +310 on FanDuel Sportsbook (OS Rating: 1).
OddsShopper’s Best Padres-Dodgers MLB Bet
After looking through OddsShopper’s MLB tool, the pickings are pretty slim as far as baseball betting value goes for this Padres-Dodgers matchup.
We’re not expecting as many offensive fireworks in game two of the series, and ultimately we’re going to be siding with the Dodgers to get it done and even up the series at a game apiece — OddsShopper’s tool really isn’t seeing any individual player props or other picks that are screaming out as great values this early in the day. Make sure to check on the starting lineups and updated odds later this evening to see if anything changes.
As for tonight’s bet, Lynn was showing very promising signs when he first joined up with LA and we’re hopeful he can get back to that effective version of himself here on Tuesday. We’re siding with the Dodgers at home.
