Best Rockies-Dodgers MLB Bet & Prediction: Blach Can do Just Enough (August 10)

The Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers open a four-game series on Thursday night. The Dodgers were a bit underwhelming in the first half of the MLB season given their high expectations. They’ve turned things around over the last month and are now asserting their dominance in the NL West. It’s a different story for the Rockies, who have struggled all season. Let’s jump into the Rockies-Dodgers odds using the OddsShopper market-based model to make a prediction and MLB bet.

Best MLB Rockies-Dodgers Bet & Prediction: Ty Blach

Rockies-Dodgers Odds, via Caesars Sportsbook
Rockies: +300 | Dodgers: -385
Rockies +1.5: +170 | Dodgers -1.5: -205
Over 8.5: -105 | Under 8.5: -115

The Rockies starting pitching has been a disaster, even away from Coors Field. Many of its problems began with the loss of German Marquez, who underwent Tommy John surgery in May. Behind Marquez in Colorado’s rotation are Kyle Freeland and Austin Gomber; the biggest– and perhaps only– selling point on those two is their consistency and familiarity with the organization. Gomber has pitched for the Rockies since 2021 and Freeland since 2017. It’s been a collection of spot starters and Triple-A-level players after Gomber and Freeland, including Chris Flexen, who returned to the majors with the Mariners in 2021 after a brief stint with the New York Mets and a two-year stay in the Korean Baseball Organization.

Another member of the Rockies cavalcade of pitchers will give it a go tonight in Los Angeles. Ty Blach takes the hill in one of the toughest matchups he can ask for. The 32-year-old is pitching for his third organization. Before joining the Rockies last season, Black shuttled between the majors and Triple-A for the Baltimore Orioles and San Francisco Giants. His longest stay in the big leagues was in 2017 when he appeared in 34 games, starting 24 and posting a 4.78 ERA.

Things should be tough for Blach against an elite Dodgers offense. However, betting markets are pricing the difficult matchup into his MLB prop betting lines. The most important thing for the game is that, despite Blach’s lack of talent, anyone can put up a decent game or even a few innings.

You can grab Ty Blach Over 2.5 strikeouts at Caesars at -146. This Rockies-Dodgers bet has true odds for -165 and a 62% win rate. That gives it a 5% positive expected value. It’s worth staking just under .25% of your bankroll if you’re using the full Kelly Criterion for sustainable growth.
