Best Rockies-Giants MLB Bet & Prediction: Giants Overvalued for Sunday Night Baseball (September 10)

The baseball season is in its final stretch as players and teams start the audition for next season if they’ve fallen out of the race. Unfortunately, that has been the case all season for the Colorado Rockies. They’ll take on the San Francisco Giants on Sunday Night Baseball in the final game of a three-game series. The Giants are still clinging to hope and trying to avoid the audition phase for 2024. Let’s take a look at the Rockies-Giants odds and use the OddsShopper model to make a prediction and pick the best MLB bet.

Best MLB Rockies-Giants Bet & Prediction:

Rockies-Giants Odds, via BetRivers
Rockies: +185 | Giants: -225
Rockies +1.5: -121 | Giants -1.5: +100
Over 8.5: -114 | Under 8.5: -106

The Rockies dropped the first two games of the series to the Giants. They put up a valiant effort in Game 1 of the series, dropping the game 8-9. That was not the case on Saturday evening when they were beaten down 9-1. Logan Webb dominated the Rockies’ offense for six innings. They were able to finally put up a run to avoid the shutout when Webb left the game for the top of the 7th. Chase Anderson looked to be turning the game around after giving up two runs in the first, but he later allowed four earned runs in the 4th inning to let the game get out of hand.

Peter Lambert will start the game on the hill for Colorado. He’s been nothing but an innings eater in 2022. Lambert has held down the fort in the rotation in hopes of better results next year.  He is 3-6 with a 5.03 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 82.1 IP.

Keaton Winn will start for the Giants. Winn came up earlier this year and has performed admirably in his first go around in the big leagues. The 25-year old is the 16th ranked prospect in the organization and a valued arm in the Giants’ system. He has made six appearances this year and two starts. Winn threw five shutout innings against the San Diego Padres in his last outing.

With the Giants still in contention, the Rockies-Giants odds are lopsided in San Francisco’s direction. However, that may be cause MLB betting markets to get a little high on props. There are several strong Rockies-Giants bets in this game if you look to the batting unders.

Bettors can grab either Mike Yastzremski, Wilmer Flores or Mitch Haniger to go under 0.5 hits for a positive expected value wager. Yas Under 0.5 hits (-115) has a 3% positive expected value. But unlike these other bets it connects slightly more often, making it a safer wager worth staking a bit more of your bankroll. This Rockies-Giants bet at BetRivers wins about 55% of the time and has true odds of -123. The -115 vig makes it worth staking just over 1% of your bankroll if you’re using the full Kelly Criterion.

Best Rockies-Giants MLB Bet: Mike Yastzremski Under 0.5 Hits (-115) at BetRivers

*(Bettors will also find value on Haniger or Wilmer Flores Unders)
