Best Royals-Padres Bet: Tail This Juan Soto Prop (May 17)

The Kansas City Royals are in an interesting spot come Wednesday. They will most likely get three innings each from right-handed pitchers Jackson Kowar and Carlos Hernandez, who will have to eat up innings for a team dealing with a taxed bullpen. With that in mind, let’s fire away with a Juan Soto prop as the top Royals-Padres bet.

Royals-Padres Bet: Juan Soto O/U 0.5 Hits

This market is the same as “total bases”. You can find this on most major sportsbook but by using OddsShopper tool’s, you can find the best line on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Juan Soto has turned up his game as of late, especially against right-handed pitchers. He is hitting .480 in May, including six doubles in his last eight games. As stated above, the Kansas City Royals will either be starting Carlos Hernandez or Jackson Kowar. Neither is a good option. Left-handed bats are hitting near .300 against Hernandez this season, while Kowar would be making his season debut after giving up 11 hits in 22 at-bats against left-handed hitters last season.

The issue with attacking Soto is how frequently he walks. He has been issued a free pass 38 times this season, which are the most in the league. Pitchers run into trouble when they give him a free base and have Xander Bogaerts next up to bat. All it takes is one pitch for Soto to cash this prop. He recorded at least one hit in 24 of 43 games this season and seven of his last 10. He is fresh off a two-hit game last night and continues to see the ball well.

Editor’s Note: After publication, this moved to -190 on DraftKings Sportsbook but is still playable at -160 on BetMGM.
