Giolito has been one of the more reliable starting pitchers in the MLB throughout his career. Then, the fan-favorite took a step back during the 2022 season. He went 11-9 but concerned many with an ERA spiked to 4.90. Giolito began the year similarly to how he ended the last — poorly. And although many fans and members of the media were calling for the Sox to make some tough decisions regarding Giolito (either a minor league stint, trade or release), he appears to have found his form again.
