White Sox: +220 | Dodgers: -270
Over 8.5: -105 | Under 8.5: -115
The Dodgers took the first game of this series by a four-run margin. They’ll now turn to ace LHP Clayton Kershaw (8-4), whose 2.95 ERA and 3.40 xERA prove he is still one of the MLB’s best starters. The White Sox will start RHP Mike Clevinger (3-4), whose 4.19 ERA and 4.75 xERA aren’t much to write home about. Bettors can expect almost entirely right-handed pitching from Chicago today — two of their three LHPs, Garrett Crochet and Tanner Banks, saw action on Tuesday.
In addition to their advantage on the mound, the Dodgers also have a big leg up on offense. L.A. ranks second in expected weighted on-base average, or xwOBA, at .353. Chicago ranks a pathetic 29th at .301. Designated hitter Jake Burger leads the White Sox in individual xwOBA at .370, which slots in below four members of the Dodgers’ batting order: Freddie Freeman, J.D. Martinez, Mookie Betts and Will Smith. Unsurprisingly, the Dodgers are massive betting favorites tonight.
I’ve already written about one player prop for this evening’s battle, but I think it speaks to a larger truth for this series. The Dodgers should control each game, especially via left-handed power. David Peralta hit a two-run shot in the opening game of this series, but we didn’t see much out of Freddie Freeman or James Outman. Both players will make for sharp targets all series long.
I already have action on Freeman, so let’s get some exposure to Outman with this same-game parlay. We can buy the Dodgers to win and Outman to get a hit, something he has done in 29 of his 54 games with multiple plate appearances (53.7%), at odds of +140 (41.7%) via BetMGM. This same wager comes in at odds of +105 (48.8%) via FanDuel. New to BetMGM? You can get first-bet insurance worth up to $1,000 when registering!
