Miami Marlins vs. New York Mets First Inning Bet
We’ve rode with the king all season, and we’re going to continue that trend tonight — especially after we got robbed of the NRFI in Wednesday’s Game 1 of this series.
You all know I love Jesus Luzardo, and for good reason. The fella is just a machine at cashing no run first inning bets and is sitting with a 26-5 NRFI record this season. He NRFI’d the Mets earlier this year and has held them to a .208 average, owns a 25% strikeout rate against them and has allowed only three extra-base hits in 48 at-bats. Nothing would look better than a 27-5 record.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but David Peterson — despite his astronomical ERA — has been borderline absurd lately with NRFIs. Overall, he’s 14-6 in NRFI chances, but he’s 6 of his last 7 no run first innings. Guarantee you could win a bar bet with that random stat. He blanked the Marlins in the first in his lone start against them this season and has solid career numbers in this matchup (.233 average, 15 strikeouts in 60 at-bats). Peterson has been PILING UP strikeouts lately, notching 37 in his last five starts, and he has 120 strikeouts in 104 innings.
How in the world are we getting this at -115?!?

Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners First Inning Bet
We’re getting another rematch of a game that happened five days ago: Jordan Montgomery vs. Logan Gilbert tonight in Seattle with a lot of playoff implications on the line.
Gilbert has made two starts against Texas already this season and is 2-0 on NRFIs. In his two starts against the Rangers this year, he’s allowed four runs in 12.1 innings and has 12 strikeouts (including a 10-strikeout game). He’s only a strikeout-per-inning guy, but he doesn’t allow runners via the walk, which is a huge plus when avoiding runs in the first.
Montgomery was awesome in his last start (against the Mariners), going seven shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out six en route to a NRFI. He’s 22-9 in his no run first inning opportunities this season and has owned the Mariners batters in his career. In 58 at-bats, he’s held them to a .155 average, .222 OBP and .241 slugging.
With this game total sitting at 7.5 (and might drop to 7), the stars are aligning for a NRFI.
