It was a strong 2-1 NRFI day for us yesterday. That Giants-Rockies yes run first inning bet was a no-doubt cash, but Mother Nature didn’t want us having too much fun on a school night.
However, if you follow me on Twitter, we got the last laugh! It was another PRINT FEST on NFL picks, as we swept our picks and cashed our second straight NFL parlay! So overall, Thursday was a SMASH! Let’s go!
Luckily, we got a little gift in the YRFI/NRFI streets for Friday’s picks, so no more pussyfootin’ around, let’s get to the picks!

Detroit Tigers vs. Los Angeles Angels First Inning Bet
Two things we love to see when we’re surfing for NRFIs: Bad offenses and low totals. And it doesn’t hurt when the OddsShopper NRFI Tool is projecting it with the highest expected win rate (xWin%) on the slate at 54%. That’s what we have in Tigers-Angels.
While Griffin Canning sounds more like a 1930s business than a baseball player, we’re going to back this play. Canning has been strong on no run first innings of late, having cashed the NRFI in five straight games (and that includes NRFIs against the Rangers and Rays). The Tigers have moved up some in runs per first inning but are still in the bottom 10 for the season. Canning has reverse splits (.225 average, .286 on-base percentage), so he should be able to handle the lefty Tigers bats they deploy at the top of the order.
No Mike Trout or Shohei Ohtani for the Angels really makes this appetizing for NRFI bettors. L.A. hasn’t scored a first-inning run in its last three games, so this should be a great spot for Tigers starter Tarik Skubal. My man is rocking a 1.03 WHIP and is well over a strikeout per inning. Pair that with the Angels lineup that has plenty of swing-and-miss in it, and this has all the ingredients of a no run first inning.

San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies First Inning Bet
*Giants-Rockies got rained out yesterday. Matchup is the same, so we’re running this back. Here’s the analysis, if you missed it yesterday*
We’re going back to Coors Field again, with value on our mind. Caesars Sportsbook had this priced at -125 when I bet it this morning. It felt like I was doing something dirty getting those kinds of odds that early.
This game features two division teams, so they’ve seen each other A LOT over the years. For Chase Anderson, he’s faced Giants hitter 112 times in his career, and they’ve managed a .286 average, .455 slugging and 10 extra-base hits (4 home runs). Anderson has been surprisingly “better” at home, but when you’re 0-5 and have a 6.49 ERA on the season … well, you get it. He just faced the Giants in his last start (in San Fran) and allowed two first-inning runs and finished with 6 earned runs in 3.1 innings.
Yes, Logan Webb has been strong on cashing NRFI bets this season (23-7), but let’s take a deeper look. The Rockies batters know him well, having 141 career at-bats against him. In those 141 at-bats, they’ve found some success. A .291 AVG, .324 OBP and .743 OPS, as well as 41 hits (12 for extra bases). Webb has given up more runs in Coors Field (22) than he has in any other ballpark in his career — but that shouldn’t be TOO surprising.
The over/under actually went UP in this game (was 10.5 Thursday, and is now 11), and with these odds, I can’t pass up on the YRFI. If they get me, they get me.
