It was a tough way to end what would’ve been a 4-0 NRFI winning streak, but Joan Adon couldn’t get it done for us. That’s not a worry, though, as we enter September on a 3-1 run (148-115 overall) and +42.75 units on our no run first inning bets.
Today’s slate is the polar opposite of Thursday’s, giving us a handful of great YRFI/NRFI spots to look at. I’ve found a couple I really like and will tell you how to take these two picks and turn them into a +354 parlay. I’ve got my eye on a possible third NRFI bet today. and if I do add it to the card, I’ll drop that pick on Twitter. So be sure you’re following me on Twitter to get that pick!

Miami Marlins at Washington Nationals First Inning Bet
Yes. We’re running it back. No, I will not copy and paste yesterday’s analysis (but I was tempted to).
There are three certainties in life: Death. Taxes. Eury Perez cashing NRFIs.
This man has been a NRFI god in 2023. He’s cashed 14 of his 15 NRFI opportunities this year, and it hasn’t been much of a sweat. In 74 innings, he has 90 strikeouts and has been dominated his way to a 2.68 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. Perez has faced the Nationals twice this year, going 2-0 in NRFI chances. In those games, he’s held them to a .161 average (five hits in 31 at-bats) and allowed ZERO home runs.
Washington sends out Jake Irvin, who has been surprisingly strong at cashing no run first inning bets. This year, he’s 14-6 on NRFIs and has cashed six straight. Telling you the Marlins first-inning offense is bad is like beating a dead horse. But this is your daily reminder. Irvin’s numbers against Miami aren’t quite #EuryGod-like, but they’re strong. He’s 2-0 on NRFIs against the Marlins and has held them to a .222 average in 36 at-bats (and somehow kept Luis Arraez hitless in six at-bats).

Seattle Mariners at New York Mets First Inning Bet
This Mariners-Mets matchup features a pair of pitchers who have never faced the opposing team before.
Kodai Senga gets the start for the Mets, which is always a good thing when eyeing a no run first inning bet. Our guy is 17-7 in his NRFI chances this year and has been racking up the strikeouts. He’s sitting at 164 in 136.1 innings pitched. Now, add in that the Mariners strike out at the second-highest clip in baseball, and we’ve got a nice combo here — especially with Seattle faring much worse against right-handed pitching (.239 average and 992 strikeouts).
Logan Gilbert isn’t as big of a strikeout threat as Senga, but he’s still about a strikeout-per-inning guy (153 strikeouts in 155 innings). The key thing to remember here is that in a matchup against the Mets, it likely doesn’t matter. Gilbert takes his 15-11 NRFI record into tonight’s game against the worst first-inning offense in baseball. How bad have the Mets been in the first inning? The haven’t scored a first-inning run since Aug. 19. We back Gilbert with confidence.
