An error on Alex Kirilloff — that might have bene an inning-ending double play — is how we got the blade on our parlay yesterday. A tough way to go, but we did cash the Orioles-Rangers YRFI with the Corey Seager home run. So we go 1-1 on our no run first inning bets last night to mitigate the damage.
We have three games on deck for Wednesday’s slate, with the Twins and Dodgers facing elimination, which are the two games we’re going to getting some coin down on.

Houston Astros vs. Minnesota Twins First Inning Bet
There’s no hotter hitter on the planet right now than Yordan Alvarez. I mean, this man cannot miss. That goes for the entire Astros offense, actually. That’s where we begin our Wednesday MLB picks.
Joe Ryan gets the ball for the Twins, and my god, it might not be pretty. His 2023 season was what the kids call, “mid,” and I don’t see that getting right in an elimination game against a scorching-hot offense. Ryan has faced Astro hitters 53 times and given up three home runs in the process. If you guessed Alvarez having one of the homers, you win a prize. Alex Bregman also has one. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Joe Ryan loves to give up the dong. The Astros have been locked in, and there’s even a chance Ryan gets Kershawed — yes I just created a verb out of Clayton Kershaw’s horrific start in Game 1 — in this game.
On the other side the Astros trot out Jose Urquidy, who is just as much of a lover of dongs as Ryan. In 63 innings, he gave up 11 taters and was mashed for a 5.29 ERA. Urquidy doesn’t even have a 2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio, and his 1.43 WHIP could give someone nightmares. The Twins have hit him well in 34 at-bats, having 11 hits — four of which went for extra bases. If we don’t get the Ryan implosion in the top half, I’m very comfortable banking on the Twins to grind us out a run to cash this YRFI.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks First Inning Bet
I’ve used this platform to make fun of Brandon Pfaadt once before, and I’m going to do it again. Well, maybe not MAKE FUN of, per se. But this is definitely not praising the fella. Pfaadt got knocked around in his first postseason start against the Brewers, going only 2.2 innings and giving up three runs. And newsflash … Dodgers offense > Brewers offense. It’s a small sample, but the Dodgers have lit up Pfaadt in the 42 at-bats against him, launching three homers and hitting .381 along the way. With the Dodgers on the brink of being sent home, they’re going to be coming out firing with the bats tonight and looking to press the issue in getting one early to set the tone. Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman & Co., they’re going to give us this one sweat-free.
Should we not get the fun we’re looking for in the top half, we’re definitely in a good spot to get some in the bottom half. Dusty Lance Lynn is throwing for L.A., which seems mind-blowing to use him in an elimination game. Tough scene for L.A. tonight. Anyway, can I give you one guess what pitcher allowed the most home runs in baseball this season? Yes, it’s our dusty friend Lance Lynn. I didn’t even know it was possible to give up 44 homers in a season, but good on Lynn for proving me wrong. Arizona hasn’t been a huge home run team this year, but with Lynn on the mound, anything is possible. And again, Arizona’s top of the order is so athletic, it’s always nice to have the running game to fall back on to scratch a run.
Buckle up because this one could see a TON of runs tonight. Let’s just make sure one comes in the first.
