My friends, it’s a sad day: This is our last chance to win two no run first inning bets in the same night. We’ve had a heck of a run smashing this NRFI picks all season long, so it’s only fitting we end our 2023 MLB betting season with a BANG!
We’ve got a pair of potential series-clinching games on tap with Diamondbacks-Phillies Game 6 and Rangers-Astros Game 7. I’ve got the YRFI/NRFI bets locked in already. Let’s get ready to rock.
Best YRFI & NRFI Bets Today: Yes & No Run First Inning Bets
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks First Inning Bet
This series has been bipolar with how its chosen to give us our yes/no run first inning bets. In fact, it’s downright ticked me off.
Philadelphia has Aaron Nola on the mound, who has been absolute nails this postseason. He’s allowed only two runs in 18.2 innings and has an X-rated strikeout-to-walk ratio of almost 10-to-1 (19 strikeouts, 2 walks). Those numbers are so pornographic it would even make Jenna Jameson blush. He already cashed the NRFI against the Diamondbacks this series, and it’s clear their offense is really struggling. Let’s count on Nola for a quick top half.
I’ll tell you what, it never feels good betting against this Phillies offense. However, Merrill Kelly nearly escaped his Game 2 start with the NRFI. Trea Turner sent a mistake into the left-center field seats for a home run, but he looked relatively decent otherwise. OddsShopper’s YRFI/NRFI Bet Tool leans toward the NRFI here, and I’ve trusted the tools all year. We’re firing up the no run first inning here and rooting against fun.

Texas Rangers vs Houston Astros First Inning Bet
For as much trouble as we’ve had predicting the NRFIs in the other series, we’ve been ALL OVER this series. We’ve been dialed in with these offenses and I think have only missed one of the six games so far.
This is a rematch of Game 3, with Cristian Javier back on the mound for the Astros. The only gripe I’ve had with this Texas Rangers offense is how frequently they’ve popped up the first pitch of an at-bat. It feels like it’s happened 1,000 times. A step out of the norm for the team that walked the most in the American League. Rangers leadoff hitter Marcus Semien looks like he might be figuring it out after a couple hits and a pair of walks in Sunday’s Game 6. That would be a welcome sign for Texas — and us — if he could set the tone from the first pitch.
What’s been great about this series is that, if we haven’t gotten our YRFI in the top half, we’ve still got a great offense to rely on in the bottom half. The Astros welcomed back Max Scherzer with five runs in four innings in his Game 3 start. Should we not get a run from the Rangers, I love our prospects of getting one from Houston. We should expect to see Michael Brantley and his .357 lifetime average against Scherzer in the No. 2 spot tonight. Brantley is 20-for-57 with eight doubles and three homers in his career against the Texas righty. It’s always a great feeling knowing that, if anyone gets on and extends the inning to the cleanup batter, we get the hottest hitter on the face of the earth in Yordan Alvarez. Again, the OddsShopper tool has this yes run first inning bet rated out with an almost 54% expected win rate. We ride with our homies, and this tool has been just that.
