It was a virtual lock the Astros-Rangers game was going to cash our YRFI bet on Friday. But, again, the Phillies and Diamondbacks ruin our fun with two scumbag pitchers on the mound. Between Joe Mantiply and Cristopher Sanchez, it felt like a run was coming. However, whatever witchcraft these guys are working with must be some kind of powerful, as they cashed yet another no run first inning bet. Let’s all be this gif of Jesse from Breaking Bad to make ourselves feel better.
We’re down to just one game tonight — Phillies-Diamondbacks Game 5. Through four games, there have been a pair of YRFIs (both in Philadelphia) and two NRFIs (both in Arizona). I’ve got the answer for how we’re betting this one tonight.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks First Inning Bet
Like a premium hand in Texas Hold ‘Em, we’ve got a pair of aces on the mound with the series knotted a 2 games apiece.
Zac Gallen didn’t quite look the part of an ace in Game 1, with the first pitch he threw being sent to the moon by Kyle Schwarber. Followed up shortly after by another ball into orbit by Bryce Harper, and ultimately ended as a 5-inning, 5-run outing.
I’m willing to give a little bit of a pass, as that was in a raucous Citizens Bank Park. Gallen gets to toe his home rubber tonight, where he’s been infinitely better — 2.47 ERA, .230 AVG and 6.67 K/BB ratio in 16 starts. Those are numbers are more gaudy than a Vegas showgirl costume. The big lift is going to come in the top of the 1st, and, I won’t lie, the Phillies Top 3 scares me. However, Gallen has a combined 13 Ks against Schwarber, Harper and Trea Turner, so they can be stopped.
The Phillies have rode the back of Zack Wheeler all playoffs, and it’s not going to stop now. He’s been nothing short of fantastic this postseason, striking out basically everyone who has stepped into the box. He has 26 Ks in 19 innings, including 8 against these Diamondbacks hitters in Game 1.
This feels like another great Wheeler spot, especially the much more pitcher-friendly Chase Field. He mowed down the Top 3 in the Arizona lineup, holding Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte and Tommy Pham to 1-for-9. Plus, the Diamondbacks have proven they’re scared to run, attempting only one stolen base with JT Realmuto behind the plate for the Phillies.
Let’s root against fun tonight, and find ourselves a cash with this NRFI.
