DraftKings Pick6 Fantasy Predictions for MLB (August 13)

The MLB season rolls on into mid-August with the playoff picture starting to take form. There are just four teams in the American League that are less than 10 games back from the final Wild Card — seven in the National League. We’ve seen teams up top fall back like the Philadelphia Phillies, allowing an opening for both the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets. There’s always taking advantage of the bottom feeders as we know teams like the Chicago White Sox, Miami Marlins, and Colorado Rockies have no interest in playing baseball. With the help of our DraftKings Pick6 Fantasy Optimizer, here are your top MLB predictions for today!

Jose Siri M/L Than 1.5 Total Bases

Tampa Bay is one of those teams in the AL within 10 games of the final Wild Card, so it is safe to assume these games matter. The series continues with the Houston Astros after Tampa dropped one last night. Jose Siri and the rest of the Rays lineup face new(er) Astros pitcher Yusei Kikuchi. While last night should never be indicative of tonight, we did see Framber Valdez run through this Tampa lineup — and Siri struck out three times.

Kikuchi has two starts under his belt for Houston, including one versus this Rays team. Siri went 1-for-4 that night with a single, still staying below this total. The problem with Siri is he can’t hit for average and strikes out a ton — not good, right? His .211 xBA and 36.6% strikeout rate are atrocious — worst on the team for any everyday player in the rotation.

We ride with less than 1.5 total bases for a guy struggling to make consistent contact. Siri isn’t hitting the ball loud or hard enough to warrant concern he could sneak in a double or home run.

DraftKings Pick6 Prediction: Jose Siri Less Than 1.5 Total Bases

Jose Herrera M/L Than 0.5 Hits

We have a chance here to start 2-0 with simply one hit out of Jose Herrera. A simple task it is not — but still a solid play for us on Pick6. Let’s get the good news out of the way first: Austin Gomber is pitching for the Rockies in Arizona. Gomber’s .278 xBA is so rough that nearly anyone at the plate has a chance. Herrera has played in just five games this month — and as expected has just one hit on the board. Some of it is matchup, hitting at the bottom of the order or simply not getting enough routine action.

Herrera’s numbers aren’t great, but that is mitigated by how poor his opponent is pitching. Gomber hasn’t made it through the fourth inning in two of his last three starts and will truly test who the worse player is between the two. We are banking on it being Gomber, as Herrera can benefit from seeing some hittable pitches. The lineup for Arizona has been depleted by injury, but it still packs some firepower — at least against this team.

Herrera should see three to four at-bats in this game, with enough pitches in the zone to make contact. That’s all we ask against Gomber.

DraftKings Pick6 Prediction: Jose Herrera More Than 0.5 Hits
