Tylor Megill M/L Than 5.5 Strikeouts

The Mets should have a layup tonight facing Jonathan Cannon and the bottom-dwelling White Sox. There is little hope on the South Side as there is that Tylor Megill will notch 6 strikeouts. The Mets should punish Cannon at the plate, providing plenty of offense for this team to catch the easy win. The issue for this play is where Megill helps seal the victory.

The White Sox are brutal (already established), and Megill has a strong strikeout rate of 26.3% on the year. He’s capable of striking out six or more, but we get a favorable side against what will be a popular pick of more than 5.5 strikeouts. Even with that higher strikeout rate, Megill has only cleared this projection in five of 10 starts this year.

Outside of a few White Sox batters, the majority should open themselves up for some strikeouts. But as we’ve seen this year, that’s not always how Megill gets his outs. He doesn’t need to be in a jam to cruise through pitching to contact, especially with this Chicago lineup not offering much pop — or life, for that matter.

DraftKings Pick6 Prediction: Tylor Megill Less Than 5.5 Strikeouts

Matt Olson M/L Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs

This projection might jump to 2.5 by Labor Day — if not before. Olson is back on a tear and is starting to help fill voids left by injury in the Braves lineup. The matchup tonight is a little tricky in Ranger Suarez, but this isn’t the same exact Suarez who took the league by storm. The Braves suffered a tough collapse, blowing a four-run lead, and are still insistent on pitching to Nick Castellanos. Olson now returns tonight with even more pressure on him to continue to help funnel the scoring.

He’s had a hit in six straight games, three of the last four with multiple hits. Pitchers know exactly how tough it is to throw around him, and even with Ronald Acuna and others missing from the lineup, Olson is still seeing some solid pitches to hit. I know one area slowing down for Suarez was the strikeout rate, but overall, this is about Olson seeing pitches from someone throwing to contact. I’ll take that matchup with Olson having such a big eye on the ball. He should clear 1.5 in one to two at-bats, sweat-free.
