DraftKings Pick6 MLB Predictions Today: Aaron Judge Is a Monster (July 28)

Let’s end the weekend on a strong note before we all sleepwalk back to work. Sunday slates are always tough with lineups tending to feature more bench players, but we still have to factor pitching matchups and recent bullpen use. There’s always value sitting on the OddsShopper DraftKings Pick6 Optimizer, so we will check on any +EV edge we get against the market. Ultimately, we found two solid plays for Sunday Night Baseball as we don’t expect the same slugfest we saw last night. Here are our top 2 DraftKings Pick6 predictions of the night.

Here’s what you need to know about DraftKings Pick6: It operates like other pick’em platforms, where you can make entries with two to six picks, and the more correct choices you make, the higher the payouts. Unlike traditional sites, this format is peer-to-peer, meaning your goal is to outscore other players in pre-selected tournaments rather than beat the house. Thus, a contrarian strategy is essential!

Aaron Judge M/L Than 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBI

Chalk me. While we shouldn’t expect 20-plus combined hits with a stronger pitching matchup, that doesn’t mean everyone goes home hitless. The Yankees need a win, but their struggles aren’t coming as a result of a stalled offense. While they’ve dealt with injuries, Aaron Judge remains a constant and a tough one at that. Tanner Houck has to either find a way to go at Judge or simply pitch around him throughout the night. The problem for Houck — beyond the 90.3 EV and 44.2% hard-hit rate — and the Red Sox remains how efficient other Yankees will be at the plate. That’s where there’s still some value in getting three-plus hits + runs + RBIs.

There’s no secret Judge is an absolute monster — four more hits last night. That’s just the nature of pitching to Judge and the risk of walking him. The good thing about this market is we get credit for runs scored. While we would rather stay away from an 0-for-2 night with three walks and three runs scored, Judge does have the ability to clear this in multiple ways. Of course, with a 96.3 and 60% hard-hit rate — there’s a strong chance he will go yard on Houck.

DraftKings Pick6 Prediction Today: Aaron Judge More Than 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs

Ben Rice M/L Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI

We found our regression candidate — at least one of them. Despite the hitting onslaught on both sides, Ben Rice had just one hit in three at-bats. There are a couple of reasons why we push back on Rice clearing this above total, mainly because of how last night’s game played out — and the strong possibility of it happening again. Rice was taken out for a pinch-runner, who was later replaced by D.J. LeMahieu. That threat against this total continues tonight as we tend to see even more situational play ahead of their series in Philadelphia.

The hit last night snapped a five-game skid for Rice without reaching base safely. While that’s not indicative in its own right of Rice failing to hit tonight, we’ve seen a consistent replacement for him. Just getting more at-bats hasn’t been enough to push him over the top, as we’ve seen six games this month where he’s gone hitless in four-plus at-bats. Houck may be giving up some harder contact, but he’s survived with a 22.5% strikeout rate and a rather strong 5.7% walk rate. That’s enough to frustrate Rice, especially if his at-bats are limited.
