As the NBA and NHL seasons are coming to a close, the MLB season is starting to heat up. Between personal awards being impacted by injury – Mookie Betts being the latest – to playoff runs across multiple divisions, we have enough drama to keep up through the next few months. The good news at OddsShopper is we have a specific optimizer for DraftKings Pick6, one that is designed to put together the best +EV card. Here are tonight’s top three MLB plays!
Here’s the lowdown on DraftKings Pick6: It is meant to mirror most pick’em sites, allowing you to build a two- to six-leg entry with larger payouts for more correct choices. However, the new product is peer-to-peer, meaning the strategy lies in beating other players in pre-selected tournaments rather than beating the house, making it important to be contrarian!

Jon Gray M/L Than 5.5 Strikeouts
The Rangers offense is in desperate need of a jolt as they open their series at home against the Mets. With the bats held relatively quiet in their previous series, the Rangers can’t afford a poor outing from Jon Gray. We are focused on the K market here knowing it might take too much time for him to hit 6+ strikeouts. Time he may not have available depending on how deep he is pitching into the game.
Gray has a good 24.3% K rate on the year but struggling to pitch to contact. The Mets could easily apply a more patient approach at the plate, forcing Gray to work around counts to get Ks. On top of that, the Mets don’t have a ton of every day guys who offer a lot of Ks. Gray will have to work for strikeouts from J.D. Martinez and Brandon Nimmo – two of New York’s better hitters. It’s a tough ask, even at home for Gray to hit this number.
DraftKings Pick6 Prediction: Jon Gray LESS Than 5.5 Strikeouts
Jose Soriano M/L Than 5.5 Strikeouts
Two teams heading in polar opposite directions this season collide out west. Jose Soriano is charged with cooling off the Brewers who own the NL Central’s best record by 6.5 games. Soriano has never faced Milwaukee and will have little run support behind him. The Angels have been outscored by a ridiculous clip over their past 10-15 games, near the bottom of the league. Soriano is going to have a battle on his hands despite having any early advantage – if he even does – facing this team for the first time.
One thing working against Soriano is his 20.3% K rate. While the Brewers have a couple of players out there who do strike out, the risk reward of going after a hot hitter might undo Soriano before he hits 6 Ks. He’s essentially racing against the clock here as the Brewers can load up any jam for Soriano, already unable to fully rely on his lower K rate. His only hope is a cooperating Brewers team willing to swing at junk. Since Milwaukee is pounding the ball to the tune of a +63 run differential, we don’t think that’s likely to happen.
DraftKings Pick6 Prediction: Jose Soriano LESS Than 5.5 Strikeouts
Michael Siani M/L Than 0.5 Hits
That team sitting 6.5 back of Milwaukee is the St. Louis Cardinals as they open a series on the road in Miami. The Marlins send Braxton Garrett to the hill to face the Cards lineup. Garrett isn’t pitching well this year, but still not poorly enough for a batter like Michael Siani to exploit. Garrett’s K rate sits at 20.4% and he’s struggling with a .264 xBA, but that’s still not as bad as Siani’s production at the plate.
The Cards would absolutely benefit from more production from anyone in their lineup, but they can’t be holding their breath for Siani. He’s near the bottom of the lineup in production, struggling in most areas including strikeouts. Siani has a 26.3% K rate, a .225 xwOBA, and .196 xBA. Even a struggling pitcher like Garrett just isn’t enough for Siani to take any advantage. He would need one of us on the mound at this point.
DraftKings Pick6 Prediction: Michael Siani LESS Than 0.5 Hits
