Mets-Phillies Player Prop Pick for Game 2 of the MLB London Series (June 9)

The Philadelphia Phillies shelled LHP Sean Manaea for a win in Game 1 of the MLB London Series. On Sunday, the New York Mets will start LHP Jose Quintana as they look to even the score. It’s RHP Taijuan Walker up for the Phillies, and with both pitchers underperforming this year, value abounds on the MLB player prop markets. Let’s identify the top MLB player prop pick for Mets-Phillies in Sunday’s MLB London Series Game 2.

Mets-Phillies Player Prop Pick for Game 2 of the MLB London Series

Brandon Nimmo O/U 1.5 Total Bases

With RHP Taijuan Walker on the bump for the Phillies, it’s a great spot to back LHB Brandon Nimmo. To put it nicely, Walker stinks against opposite-handed batters. They’re slashing .364/.425/.636 against him this season with 11 extra-base hits and five home runs.

Nimmo isn’t having a great season by most traditional metrics. His overall slash line of .222/.348/.380 is gross. His slash line of .213/.361/.368 versus righties is even worse. However, it appears that most of Nimmo’s struggles stem from playing in pitcher-friendly Citi Field: once he’s on the road, his splits improve to .274/.420/.516.

Nimmo’s statcast profile is also excellent — he sports a .280 xBA (83rd percentile) and .490 xSLG (85th):

Put Nimmo in a friendlier park (see: London Stadium, which ranked fourth in overall park factors last season), and you’ve got a guy whose batted ball profile suggests is a pretty steady hitter. Line him up against a struggling RHP in Taijuan Walker and you’ve got a recipe for success. I’ve got Nimmo to get multiple bags (+110 at DraftKings) and go yard (+560 at FanDuel).
