The Padres hit the road to take on the Cardinals, and despite both teams struggling this is a spot worth attacking. Looking at the lines we find San Diego as a -120 Run Line favorite on the road, which shows the state of this St Louis squad. Before we finalize the bet let’s dive into the teams and the potential advantages the Padres have.
It’s been a rough season for a talented Padres squad, and they sit 9 games under .500. The good news for them is they bring Blake Snell to the mound tonight, and with him comes a 10-9 record and a 2.73 ERA. The road splits are very solid, and Snell has proven all year he can work in and out of trouble as good as any pitcher in the league. I feel confident against this Cardinals lineup that he will provide a quality start and set the stage for the Padres offense.
Speaking of the Padres offense they get the dream matchup with Adam Wainwright who gets the ball in this start. There isn’t much to say here besides it’s been a completely awful season for Wainwright and his 3-9 record and gigantic 8.61 ERA proves that. Although they’ve had a poor year it’s a St Louis team with nothing to play for, and a guy on the mound who consistently has struggled to limit the damage all season. I’ll say it is more of the same from Snell and Wainwright which means the Padres should be able to win this one going away.
