Now, with the help OddsShopper, let’s pinpoint the best MLB PrizePicks for Tuesday.
MLB PrizePicks Player Projections | May 9
Brenton Doyle More Than 0.5 Total Bases
Though Doyle went hitless with a strikeout last time out, he had a three-hit game on Sunday. Additionally, the matchup against the Pirates and Luis Ortiz doesn’t pose a significant challenge, as Ortiz has a high walk rate in his limited time in the big leagues. Doyle should get four to five at-bats in this game, which provides ample opportunities for him to get a base. And although strikeouts have been an issue for Doyle, it is unlikely to be a major problem against Ortiz given his middling strikeout numbers.
Cal Raleigh More Than 0.5 Total Bases
Raleigh did not have a hit in the last two games, but his hits tend to come in bunches. Seattle is playing at home against Texas and the up-and-down Andrew Heaney, which could be an advantage for Raleigh against a lefty. He should get four at-bats in this game, and Heaney is not a significant strikeout threat, even if he is keeping the hard-hit rate down this season. As long as Raleigh gets four at-bats, he has a good chance to get a hit.
Luke Weaver Fewer Than 4.5 Strikeouts
Weaver’s strikeout rate is only 26%, and the Mets are not a team that strikes out a lot. They have the third-fewest strikeouts in the league this year, and they are going to make Weaver work for his strikeouts. Additionally, Weaver has been getting torched, so if he is not striking out batters, he is getting hit hard and thus getting pulled early. While there are some batters on the Mets that he can punch out, the lineup on the whole will be difficult to handle. Go for fewer than 4.5 here.
All told, this 5x entry has a 16% expected win rate — though the low ROI on a three-pick play means it’s a good idea to group these with entries from other sports.
