Again, there are a few NRFI bets today that most people will flock to, but those spots are likely to be juiced to the point where we can’t return any value. So instead, we’re going for the heat check with this NRFI bet for Wednesday, July 3. Let’s talk about this no run first inning pick for today …
NRFI Bets Today: Best No Run First Inning Picks & Predictions
New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals | NRFI Bets Today
It’s a scary proposition to mess with the New York Mets and the power of Grimace, but with a NRFI sitting at -110 odds like this, I’m willing to take a shot.
Nationals youngster Mitchell Parker gets the ball to try to stymie the red-hot Mets, who have been an offensive juggernaut of late. On the year, Parker is 10-4 on his NRFI bets, and this will be his first time facing the Mets.
I won’t lie, this one is a TAD scary. We really want to see a 1-2-3 inning, because the one guy I do NOT want to see in this first inning is Pete Alonso. All three pitches Parker throws are pitches Alonso handles pretty well, especially the splitter. It just feels like one hung splitter ends up in the stands and we’re doomed. So if we can avoid the Alonso at-bat in the first, we’re golden.
The Nats, though, we KNOW they’re an abysmal first inning scoring team.
Christian Scott is back in the bigs to start for the Mets tonight, and he was low-key rolling before they sent him down. The fella had cashed out four straight no run first inning chances after giving up a YRFI in his first career start.
Scott is a lot like Parker, where he doesn’t have overpowering stuff that will blow you away or get you to swing and miss a lot, but he isn’t going to walk a ton of guys either. So we know we’re going to get a fight from him, and he’s going to make the Nationals hitters earn it.
At -110 odds, this NRFI bet today feels like one we should definitely heat check on, especially with how hot we’ve been running.
Best NRFI Bets Today: Mets-Nationals NRFI (-110 at Caesars)
If you’re looking for another bet in the Mets-Nationals game outside of the NRFI, be sure to check out our market-based MLB betting model pick below for another +EV play today!
Mets third baseman Mark Vientos has an under 1.5 total bases prop that is popping in the OddsShopper model as one we should be targeting today.
The current odds of -130 at ESPN BET beat most of the other books offering this prop.
And if you can get it at PointsBet at -117, it’s an absolute STEAL! With a discrepancy like that, we’re getting massive positive expected value (+EV) on this bet.
It’s being given a 2.2% EV grade in the OddsShopper model, but the 58% expected win percentage is a fairly strong number to see in that column.
So if you’re looking for another bet within the Mets-Nationals game, this is one +EV bet that you can look to make with confidence, according to our OddsShopper Tools.
