NRFI Bets Today: Best No Run First Inning Picks & Predictions

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals | NRFI Bets Today

This NRFI bet today seemed to be priced in a range where FanDuel just hung too much value for us to pass up at -118. And truthfully, there isn’t a ton of analysis needed here.

The Pirates and Cardinals both rank in the bottom 7 in baseball in terms of runs scored in the first inning this season. Both teams have struggled to plate early runs to the tune of NRFI percentages of 78.79% for the Pirates and 78.46% for the Cardinals.

The Cards send out their ace Sonny Gray, who is 9-2 on NRFIs this year. Gray ranks in the 94th percentile in strikeout percentage, and Pittsburgh is striking out at a nearly 25% clip (fifth most in baseball) against right-handed pitching this season. So it’s a matchup basically made in heaven for the Cardinals righty.

For the Pirates, Bailey Falter brings his 8-4 record on NRFI bets into tonight’s matchup. And despite his name being Bailey Faulter, he’s pitched to a 3.69 ERA and 1.04 WHIP this season.

What’s more is St. Louis is one of the worst-hitting teams in baseball against left-handed pitching. It ranks third worst in terms of wRC+, ahead of only the Marlins and White Sox — that’s not a class you want to be in.

So we’re getting -118 odds on two offenses that have shown struggles scoring early and two pitchers who have been strong at cashing their no run first inning opportunities.

We’re riding with the Pirates-Cardinals NRFI bet today and going to hopefully extend this run to 3-0 heading into Thursday.
