NRFI & YRFI Bets Today: No & Yes Run First Inning Picks for Tuesday, April 30

You know that feeling you had walking into school in the fourth grade after getting the absolute WORST haircut? The embarrassment? The shame? That’s how I feel stepping into this no run first inning bets article today: Just pure disgrace on this side of the keyboard after a dreadful 0-2 night on our NRFI picks. Did both games still go under the projected 7.5 total by 2 or more runs? They darn sure did. Is that copium on my part for getting skunked on our no run first inning bets? It darn sure is.

But on the real, the process has been right; the picks have been strong (in my opinion, you’re certainly entitled to your own); we’ve just been on the bad end of some early season variance. It’ll happen in baseball. A lot. It’s a long season, and we’ll be on the good end of it at some point — hopefully. I’ve got two more no run first inning bets for today, Tuesday, April 30. The revenge tour starts today. We will not be denied, and I’m going back to the scene of one of the crimes tonight … will you join me?

NRFI & YRFI Bets Today: Best No & Yes Run First Inning Picks

Kansas City Royals vs. Toronto Blue Jays | YRFI & NRFI Bets Today

While this exact matchup is one that does, indeed, owe us money, this ISN’T the scene of the crime I was referring to. However, we’ll just call it a double scene of the crime day because I’m salty. We deserved a NRFI in this matchup five days ago, but Jose Berrios hung a slider and Salvador Perez made him pay and hit it into the bleachers in Kansas City. As I said, the revenge tour starts today.

We’re firing up the Royals-Blue Jays no run first inning bet again here and trusting that Berrios is going to get us the first three outs we need.

Despite not securing the NRFI in his last outing, Berrios had been incredibly strong. He was actually great in that start outside of that two-run homer. And it was in pretty tough weather conditions, to boot.

We’re looking at a 7.5 total here again, which you know we love to see, even though we haven’t had a ton of success on games with those of late. It’ll even out in the end. I have faith.

On the other side, we get one of my favorite young pitchers in baseball … Cole Ragans.

The Kansas City lefty is putting together a nice season here in 2024. He’s 4-2 on NRFIs through his six starts and is starting to increase his strikeout rate — it’s creeping up over the 25% mark.

If we take a walk down super small sample size lane here, we can see that Blue Jays hitters only have four hits in 32 at-bats against Ragans, so if you’re into that small of samples, that’ll tickle your fancy.

I’m more interested in the Statcast data that shows batters swinging and missing, and chasing pitches out of the zone, where Ragans has a 72nd-percentile rating in chase percentage and 80th-percentile rating in whiff percentage.

As I said earlier, the process has been good. So we’re going to trust the process again here, and roll with another low-total game and two pitchers we know can get outs in a few different ways. Lock in the no run first inning bet today in Royals-Blue Jays.

Chicago Cubs vs. New York Mets | YRFI & NRFI Bets Today

This. This game was an absolute crime.

These teams were poverty yesterday. Truly poverty. Jameson Taillon gave up ONE hit through six innings, and it was a leadoff homer to Brandon Nimmo. Luis Severino took a no-hitter into the eighth inning. So do you think we had this game pegged right?!?

My god. Yes. I’m still salty.

Moving on. We’re firing up the no run first inning pick again here tonight. We deserve redemption. The wind is blowing in at 10 mph tonight at Citi Field, and the total is projected again at 7.5.

Sean Manaea is on the mound for the Mets, which I don’t OVERLY love, but I do know this Cubs offense isn’t the same without Cody Bellinger. It is more than capable of being NRFI’d by Manaea, especially when it is likely to stack the lineup with right-handed batters like Nico Hoerner, Patrick Wisdom and Dansby Swanson somewhere in the top 4.

No disrespect to those guys, but they don’t scare me much.

And on the other side, we get Javier Assad, who was actually on the tough end of a losing NRFI his last time out against the Astros — and we felt the tough loss on that one, too. He gave up one run in his 5.1 innings in that game, and it just HAPPENED to come in the first. Tough luck.

But Assad is 4-1 on no run first inning bets this season, and we’re owed a bounce-back win here in the Big Apple.

So Cubs-Mets NRFI, you better cooperate, because I can’t handle another walk of shame into this article tomorrow.
