Best PrizePicks MLB Tonight: Fading Starting Pitchers

Tyler Glasnow More/Less 7.5 Strikeouts

Tyler Glasnow has not punched out at least eight hitters since his first start of the season. In his three starts since, Glasnow has struck out six in each and has driven his pitch count up with walks. He has surrendered at least three walks in three consecutive starts and has only gone six-plus innings in one outing this season.

The Orioles have kept right-handed starters under this total in their last six games and rank in the top 10 in strikeout rate against righties this season.

Daniel Lynch More/Less 4.5 Strikeouts

At first glance, Daniel Lynch is in a good spot against a 31-40 Detroit Tigers team. But that’s not the case. They’ve held left-handed pitchers to a bottom-10 strikeout rate and rank in the top 10 in on-base percentage with their patience at the plate.

Like Glasnow, Lynch is only four starts in and is getting roughed up. He’s allowed at least six hits in three of four starts and has stayed under this strikeout total in his last two starts.

Josh Naylor More/Less 1.5 Total Bases

Josh Naylor has the tough assignment against RHP Luis Medina. Medina is in line to be the primary pitcher for the Oakland Athletics and eat up multiple innings. Naylor is coming off a four-hit game on Sunday, so it’s a perfect sell-high spot. He has stayed under this line in 36 of 63 games and could be issued a free pass given Medina’s 10% walk rate.

Brandon Marsh More/Less 0.5 Total Bases

Brandon Marsh meets Spencer Strider. The two have history, albeit brief; Marsh took Strider deep last season and that’s it. He hits righties fairly well, but Strider dominates left-handed batters. The possible NL CY Young frontrunner has held lefties to a .176 batting average and a 38.5% strikeout rate.

Marsh is in somewhat of a slump, with only one hit in his last 16 at-bats. Bank on Strider shutting down Marsh at least twice tonight and then handing it over to a top-10 bullpen.
