Twins-White Sox Best Bets: Lucas Giolito Rolling of Late
The White Sox recently endured a brutal 10-game losing streak that has fans over on the South Side of Chicago ready to deem the entire season a failure. But the team was able to snap that skid with a thrilling comeback win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon and has been playing slightly better during the series against the Twins.
The White Sox will hand the ball to veteran right-hander Lucas Giolito on Thursday afternoon, and he has been finding his form of late. Giolito has allowed just seven runs in his last four starts combined after a shaky start to the season. He has completed at least six innings in all of those starts, including allowing just one run in six innings of work against the Twins on April 12.
Minnesota will counter with free agent acquisition Pablo Lopez, who has had an up-and-down start to his Twins tenure. The 27-year-old has struggled over his last two starts despite going up against weak competition in the Kansas City Royals and Washington Nationals. He allowed a combined 11 runs in just 10 innings pitched in those two appearances and will look to work through the struggles against a White Sox lineup that suddenly looks competent.
While the White Sox (9-21) aren’t a team we should be consistently betting on, there is value in their first five line on Thursday afternoon.
