Despite being only 31 years old, Max Holloway is one of the most renowned fighters in the UFC flyweight division. He is 23-7 across his career, including several high profile title defenses against elite opponents.
That has the UFC odds in his favor, but not by much. Holloway is a -185 favorite to defeat upstart Arnold Allen, who comes in as a +150 underdog. Allen has a 19-1 career record. His last loss was in 2014 by unanimous decision to Marcin Wrzosek at Cage Warriors 69. He has won twelve straight fights since that defeat.
The UFC odds still favor the veteran Holloway, although Allen does have plenty of work under his belt. Bettors may be shying away from Allen because of the strength of his opponents. He has been ramping up his level of competition as of late, but there are very few big names on his record. Allen did knockout Calvin Kattar and Dan Hooker in his last two matches. His last knockout over Kattar came eight seconds into Round 2. Allen’s win over Hooker was a first round KO. He’ll now look to keep up his streak against Max Holloway.
Saturday’s fight night has several other marquee names taking to the ring. Longtime veteran Edson Barboza (+140) enters as an underdog to Billy Quarantillo (-160). Dustin Jacoby (-210) is the biggest favorite on the night. He will take on Azamat Murzakanov (+170) on the UFC Fight Night’s main card. His standing as the largest favorite at -210 makes it likely that several underdogs will be victorious. UFC bettors should be mindful of the small difference in each of Saturday’s fourteen fights.
