Derrick Lewis will be put to the test Saturday night. Lewis hasn’t won a fight in over a year, and Serghei Spivac is coming into his own. Spivac has won his last two fights by technical knockout and comes in as a -230 favorite.
Lewis and his massive frame are tough for any fighter to handle. His knockout power leaves his opponents vulnerable to losing the fight with one punch. His last knockout came in Dec. 2021 in a bout against hard-nosed fighter Chris Daukaus that didn’t make it out of the first round. Lewis has yet to lose three fights in a row, and Saturday may be Lewis’ last shot at winning a big-time fight.
Spivac has skyrocketed up the heavyweight rankings and will look to make the jump into the top 10, which would include surpassing Lewis, who is the No. 7 heavyweight fighter. Spivak is fighting with confidence after winning five of his last six contests, but those came against inferior opponents. In his last two fights, Spivac defeated Greg Hardy, an Ex NFL-player, and Augusto Sakai, who lost his prior three fights to losing to Spivac.
Lewis believes people aren’t taking him seriously and has aspirations of humbling Spivac. Lewis has the experience on his side and will test the youth of Spivac, who is finally making his mark in the UFC world.
Lewis by KO/TKO can be found at +240 on FanDuel Sportsbook and will be a popular play come fight night. Lewis will look to stun the crowd and wait for a perfect opportunity for a knockout blow. By no surprise, Lewis’ last three wins have come by knockout in the middle rounds.
