Can Sheldon Creed Hold Onto His Strong Starting Track Position?
Qualifying for this weekend’s A-Game 200 has been rained out. That will put Parker Kligerman on the pole and Sheldon Creed just behind the front row in third. While it remains uncertain if Richard Childress Racing will show up with much speed this weekend, it is certain that Creed will start close enough to the front to make betting on him worth it at his current odds.
Creed has put together some solid runs at Dover Motor Speedway in the past — just not in the Xfinity Series. He ran up front consistently here in the Truck Series. He led the second-most laps before getting crashed out after starting third back in 2019. He then led a single lap before finishing top-6 in the first two stages after starting second back in 2020.

Creed’s Xfinity Series debut at Dover could’ve gone better, but he showed enough life to warrant targeting him this year. Creed started 11th but finished in eighth after scoring a top-10 result in each stage. That steady improvement is meaningful now that he’ll start the race in third — if Creed can keep his No. 2 Chevrolet out of trouble, he should be able to stay close to the front on Saturday.
Further, Creed has excelled at other banked, concrete short tracks like Dover. He led the third-most laps at Bristol last year after starting 22nd but found himself in 37th after getting crashed out. Creed also led 189 laps and won both stages in his final Truck Series start at Bristol before getting crashed out.
