Best NASCAR Xfinity Series Bets for the Alsco Uniforms 250 at Atlanta

The NASCAR Xfinity Series will join the Cup Series in Atlanta this weekend for Alsco Uniforms 250. With the track now functioning as a superspeedway since the repave, we can expect the draft to dominate the event — and for plenty of drivers to crash out. The action will get underway on Saturday, July 8 at 8 p.m. ET if Mother Nature agrees. Ty Gibbs stands out as a sharp NASCAR Xfinity Series bet for Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Which Non-Regulars are Entered?

We’ve got an interesting mix of Cup Series regulars and other fun names entered in this weekend’s Xfinity Series event. Rising star Ty Gibbs will pilot the No. 19 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. He’ll have to square off against Justin Haley in the No. 10 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing.

Other notable names include Greg Van Alst, an ARCA Series winner who will pilot the No. 44 Chevrolet for Alpha Prime Racing, and Kyle Weatherman, who takes over the No. 36 Chevrolet for DGM Racing. While neither driver is likely to pull off the upset, both have flashed plenty of grit, and anything can happen at a superspeedway track.

How Should We Evaluate the New Atlanta?

Superspeedway events in the Xfinity Series have become the Austin Hill show of late. The Richard Childress Racing driver has won two of the three Xfinity Series superspeedway events held this year. He won two races at superspeedways last year and finished second in another.

Atlanta has been Hill’s best superspeedway track. He finished second in last year’s spring race, won the summer race and won this year’s spring race. Unsurprisingly, the betting odds reflect his recent dominance: Hill slots in at 3-1 (25%) at BetMGM. No other driver owns odds shorter than 8-1 (11.1%).

However, this summer’s Atlanta race is meaningfully different than last year’s. It will run under the lights, so the track’s surface won’t be as slick as it gets during the day, which reduces some of the predictive weight from all the Atlanta events we’ve seen since the repave.

Can Ty Gibbs Dethrone Austin Hill?

Although it feels like Austin Hill has been inevitable at superspeedways over the last two seasons, we’ve seen him knocked off before. One driver who got the job done against Hill is Ty Gibbs, who won the first-ever Xfinity Series event at the repaved Atlanta Motor Speedway last season. Gibbs only led the final lap, but he still managed to record the second-best driver rating in the event (107.2).

Superspeedway racing is a team sport, and the relatively small Toyota stable has struggled to keep up with Chevrolet. That said, Toyota will have Gibbs, John Hunter Nemechek, Sammy Smith and Kaz Grala in the field. Smith and Nemechek qualified first and second, respectively, for the spring race here. Ryan Truex, then piloting the No. 19 Toyota, qualified fourth.

Look for the Toyotas to unload with plenty of speed in qualifying. It will be tough for Gibbs to hold onto the lead all day, but he’ll get plenty of help from his Toyota teammates. He slots in at only 8-1 (11.1%) at FanDuel to win Saturday’s event. You’ll likely never see Gibbs with odds that long in an Xfinity Series race again. Take advantage of the value while it’s available.

Which Underdogs Pull off a Top-5 Finish?

The list of names who have recorded a top-5 finish at a superspeedway this year is… interesting. It includes some of the usual suspects, like Hill, Nemechek and Justin Allgaier. Some struggling regulars like Sheldon Creed, Daniel Hemric and Riley Herbst are on the list as well. Beyond them, Parker Kligerman, Parker Retzlaff, Jeb Burton and Brennan Poole have all brought underfunded equipment home in the top 5.

No name stands out more than Parker Kligerman on the top-5 markets this weekend. He has two top-5 finishes to his name at superspeedways this year, including the spring Atlanta race. We’ve seen him win at these tracks in the Truck Series as well. Kligerman finds himself on the outside of the Xfinity Series playoffs at the moment, but he is only 26 points behind Herbst for the current cut line. Although Kligerman could get aggressive in pursuit of a win, he’ll also have his eye on points.

We can buy Kligerman to record a top-5 finish — something he has done in two of this year’s Xfinity Series races at superspeedways — at odds of only 2-1 (33.3%) at Caesars Sportsbook. While other drivers with longer lines may look appealing, none have demonstrated the consistency we’ve seen out of Kligerman at these tracks this year. Let’s trust him to get the job done again on Saturday afternoon.
