With Nick Nurse now at the helm, Tyrese Maxey will take huge strides this season if James Harden doesn’t suit up (the team told him not to travel for this two-game road trip), and Joel Embiid will continue to play at an MVP level as long as he can stay healthy and the supporting cast is solid. Now with that out of the way, let’s dig into our top player prop for 76ers-Bucks tonight. I’m backing Giannis Antetokounmpo to reel in at least 12 rebounds.
The defensive side of the ball is where I’m focusing my attention. Antetokounmpo won’t guard Embiid; that’s Brook Lopez‘s job. The 7-footer tends to give Embiid struggles, as he makes him work for all his points. He makes it difficult for Embiid to catch in on the block, which results in Embiid taking mid-range jump shots or post-ups from beyond the block. What does that do exactly? It draws Lopez away from the basket and lets Antetokounmpo feast on the boards.
Both defenses are as solid as they come. They ranked in the top 10 last season in defensive efficiency, and the Bucks held opponents to the lowest effective field goal percentage in the league last season. The 76ers offense will be Embiid and Maxey going to work, with shooters on the outside spotting up.
