Clearly the Boston Celtics had no interest in playing basketball last night, but it certainly helped clear the under. Speaking of little to no interest, the Knicks were our losers as they too suffered a brutal loss. We are back at it tonight for a juicy 10-game slate, including a team or two off a back-to-back. There’s an interesting matchup in Minnesota that has an under vibe, but first, we have a side serving as one of the best NBA bets today.

Best NBA Side Bet: Warriors-Bulls
Stephen Curry booed? Say it ain’t so. Such is life for a Golden State Warriors team hitting its version of rock bottom, and no, Draymond Green will not be in action tonight in Chicago. The line already dipped at most books; thanks to OddsShopper, we see a couple of 3.5 plays still on the board. Chicago is hot right now, but for how long remains the burning question. Guys like Patrick Williams and Coby White have been huge during this win streak for the Bulls, but this is more a reflection of schedule than a team turning any corner.
Their opponent is struggling, everywhere. But they still have Curry. Despite injuries to Chris Paul and now Moses Moody, the Warriors are a breakout Andrew Wiggins game from beating a mediocre squad like the Bulls. This is more a play on the Warriors catching points at a buy-low spot, knowing they still have Klay Thompson, Curry and Wiggins — even if the latter is coming off the bench. This is a disaster compared to title runs for the Warriors, but they still have enough talent — a good shooting night from one or two guys — to beat the Bulls in early January.

Best NBA Total Bet: Trail Blazers-Timberwolves O/U 221.5
The Portland Trail Blazers just lost a game by 62 points. If that happened a week ago, then there’s far less to carry over heading into tonight, but that was Thursday night against the Thunder. It is not easy to hit the second leg of a back-to-back following a 62-point loss. The Blazers are awful and showed it last night, so expecting them to snap out of some funk is foolish. The Timberwolves are 6-9-1 to the under at home as one of the best teams in the NBA, beating up on a pile of slop like the Blazers should come with a total clampdown on defense.
This isn’t too deep of a play, especially when you look at how little the Blazers give up per game, at least based on perception. They don’t score — 30th in the NBA in points per game — but only give up 116.8 points on defense. That’s still 19th in the league and good enough to keep the Timberwolves down from a scoring standpoint, especially with another blowout possibly looming. Their offense should remain as non-existent as the night prior, as any regression back to the mean for Portland will come on defense.
Best NBA Total Bet: Trail Blazers-Timberwolves Under 221.5 (-110 at DraftKings)
