Best NBA Player Prop Bets Today for Christmas (Dec. 25)

Let’s go! We scored another 2-1 performance on Saturday, cashing our Paolo Banchero points over and our Jamal Murray points under. I have player prop picks for EVERY NBA game this Christmas — but I’m only posting two of the five via my Twitter page.

Austin Reaves Player Prop

The Los Angeles Lakers will host the Boston Celtics early in the evening this Christmas, and I’m backing none other than Austin Reaves to do some damage from the perimeter. Reaves has been exceptional from the top of the key this year, converting 44.7% of his shot attempts. He is overall a solid shooter from above the arc, as averages 1.6 makes per game on a conversion rate of 37.6 from that zone.

The Lakers’ recent decision to move D’Angelo Russell to the bench unit should free up more usage for Reaves, who is already coming off the bench. Reaves attempted five 3-pointers in the first game that Russell came off the bench, and he converted two of them. Reaves is now averaging 2.6 3-pointers per game on a conversion rate of 41.9% in December.

The Boston Celtics have struggled defensively on the perimeter this year, especially above the break. The Celtics have allowed the most above-the-break 3-pointers per game (11.3). That corresponds with the second-most 3-pointers allowed to point guards (3.9) and the ninth-most to shooting guards (3.4), the two spots on the floor where Reaves sees action. De’Aaron Fox went off for six 3-pointers against Boston just a few nights ago.

You’ll find Reaves priced at -135 to hit a pair of triples on bet365, which is a bit low for him in this matchup. Boston’s perimeter defense should struggle against the Lakers on Christmas, allowing Reaves to do what he does best at a slightly more efficient rate than normal. I’m backing Reaves to go over the standard number and the 2.5 (+200 at ESPNBet).

Devin Booker Player Prop

The NBA’s five-game Christmas slate will come to an end with the Dallas Mavericks visiting the Phoenix Suns. The Suns will remain without both Bradley Beal and Jusuf Nurkic for this one, while the Mavericks will be without Kyrie Irving. Although the injuries on Phoenix’s side mean that Devin Booker will be expected to play a bigger role, I can’t turn down the under 6.5 on his rebounding prop for odds of -130 — and OddsShopper Premium can’t stay away, either. Booker averages just 5.5 rebounds per game and has stayed under this mark in his last six contests.

Stats aside, our NBA betting tools want action on this Devin Booker under on Christmas Day since there is a pricing disparity. The under 6.5 is priced at only -130 (56.5%) at FanDuel, which is worse than the true odds of -138 (58%). Pinnacle, a sharp book, has the under 6.5 priced down at -166 (62.4%). OddsShopper calculates true odds by indexing odds available at all books and adjusting for book sharpness and hold.

Tyrese Maxey Player Prop

The Philadelphia 76ers have ruled out superstar center Joel Embiid for Christmas Day, which thrusts Tyrese Maxey into a huge role. Maxey’s usage rate skyrockets to 32.5% in two games without Embiid, and the rising star both took a ton of shots and turned the ball over a lot in those games.

Maxey’s points prop for his Christmas game is sitting at 31.5, which is higher than both his season average (26.4) and his average without Embiid (24.5). The under has plenty of value, but I’m instead turning to an over on the turnover markets, which have remained mostly unadjusted for Embiid’s absence. With a matchup against the pesky Miami Heat on tap, I’m thrilled about this prop.

Maxey’s turnover prop is trading at 2.5 with the juice stacked on the under. You’ll find the over 2.5 priced at only +106 on Caesars, which feels like stealing — Maxey may average only 1.4 turnovers per game with Embiid, but he averages three per game without him, cashing the over in both of his starts without the star center.
