Killian Hayes Player Prop

The Detroit Pistons are at their best when Cade Cunningham runs the show. In one of the two wins that the Pistons have this season, Cunningham had 25 points and 10 assists, which came against the Chicago Bulls. Ironically enough, that’s who they’ll face off against tonight. But we’re not backing or fading Cunningham today. Our top NBA player prop bet features his backcourt mate, Killian Hayes.

Hayes has had an interesting NBA career. A former top-10 pick in the 2020 Draft, Hayes has been criticized for his lack of production in Detroit. Deservingly so, as he’s shooting below 40% from the field and 27% from three-point range in his career. From a playmaking standpoint, it’s been a struggle as well. He had a career year in terms of assists last season but turned the ball over 2.3 times a game. That was mainly without Cunningham, who dealt with injuries all season long. This season, Hayes has taken a backseat, averaging 4.9 assists and under 5.5 assists in six of 10 games.

The usage rate and the Pistons somehow converting on 61% of Hayes assist opportunities have me fading Hayes tonight. Those are tough numbers to sustain. He’s averaging 6.2 assists per game in the last five games on 9.2 opportunities. I’ll take my chances in a game with the second-lowest total of the slate and a bottom-10 pace of play matchup against the Bulls.
