Opening Night is finally here. Nothing says the NBA more than star players already missing games. Draymond Green and Bradley Beal will not be in action for tonight’s Suns-Warriors game while Devin Booker is a “50-50 shot to play”. Before that late game, The Denver Nuggets will raise their banner against the Los Angeles Lakers. With that injury news, let’s dive into our top NBA player prop picks and bets for Tuesday, October 24. If you’re hungry for more action, check out our NBA betting tools or our NBA betting promos!
Best NBA Player Props Today: Picks for Michael Porter Jr., Kevon Looney
Michael Porter Jr. Player Prop
I love uncomfortable unders on Opening Night — especially on players who missed all of the preseason action. Injury-plagued Michael Porter Jr. was a pivotal part of Denver’s title run last season, and he’s going to be an even bigger piece with the loss of Bruce Brown. He’ll battle it out tonight against the Los Angeles Lakers, who are even more talented than they were a year ago.
“Never swing the rock” Porter is one of the best shooters in the league with his elevated jumpshot and 6-foot-10 frame. He flies off off-ball screens. It can be scary fading a shooter like that, but Porter could very well be rusty and limited tonight with his past injuries. FanDuel, one of the sharpest books when it comes to NBA props, has yet to release a points, rebounds and assists line on Porter. Thankfully, the rest of the major sportsbooks have. Caesars Sportsbook has the best line on this prop at 21.5 with a price of -109 – a much better price than BetMGM is offering at -125.
I don’t mind fading just Porter’s points, but tacking on rebounds and assists for a guy like Porter, who averaged just one assist a game last season, is crucial. Bank on Porter struggling with his shot in his first action since Game 5 of the NBA Finals and potentially playing under 30 minutes.
Best NBA Player Prop Today: Michael Porter Jr. Under 21.5 Points, Rebounds & Assists -109 at Caesars
Kevon Looney Player Prop
OddsShopper’s tools are a must-have for the NBA season. They not only help you shop around for the best price, but they help you manage your bankroll. Let’s dive into what they’ve distinguished as the best +EV bet for Warriors-Suns.
Kevon Looney was a rockstar in the NBA playoffs. He was the anchor down-low for the Warriors, averaging over 13 rebounds per game in 13 contests. During the regular season, it was much different. He averaged 9.3 boards a game, a career high. The new-look Warriors will still have Looney playing the five, even with Draymond Green not suiting up, but the price FanDuel is offering is too good to pass up compared to all other books.
The matchup between Looney and Jusuf Nurkic will be fun to watch—two of the more underrated big men battling it out on the boards. On the defensive front for Looney, I see him struggling. Nurkic will be heavily involved in the pick-and-roll with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker if he suits up. Nurkic is also one of the best passing big men in the association. Expect him to draw Looney out of the paint and limit his rebounding opportunities.
Best OddsShopper’s NBA Player Prop Today: Kevon Looney Under 9.5 Rebounds +114 at FanDuel
