Best NBA Player Props for Celtics-Hawks Game 6 (April 27)

Just as everyone expected, the Atlanta Hawks forced a Game 6 in their series against the Boston Celtics. They’ll return home to the State Farm Arena for this one as Dejounte Murray rejoins the team. Although it’s a one-game NBA slate on Thursday, we can find plenty of value at FanDuel on the player prop markets for Trae Young and Clint Capela. Celtics-Hawks Game 6 NBA Player Prop | Trae Young

Trae Young O/U 2.5 3-Pointers

After shooting a combined 5-for-19 (26.3%) from beyond the arc in the first three games of this series, Trae Young has shot 9-for-23 (39.1%) from the perimeter over the last two games, including a clutch game-winner in Game 5. So will he keep shooting like this? Probably not. Young averaged only 2.1 3-pointers per game in the regular season on a conversion rate of just 33.5%. He has converted just 29.5% of his 3-pointers in the playoffs across 26 games.

The return of Dejounte Murray is another reason bettors should expect some regression out of Young. Because Murray is a similarly high-volume ball handler, Young tends to do less when he suits up. Young averaged only 2.1 3-pointers per game on a conversion rate of 33.3% with Murray active. He hit three or more 3-pointers in just 13 of the 37 games they have played together at home this year, good for only 35.1%.

Although Young often gets thrown around in conversations about elite perimeter shooters, he took a major step back this year. Young averaged 3.1 3-pointers per game last season and 3.4 just two seasons before that one before making just 2.1 per game this year. His regular-season 3-point shooting percentage of 33.5% was the worst since his rookie campaign. Young even converted only 32.8% of his 3-pointers attempted at home in the regular season.

Let’s take advantage of what could be our last opportunity to fade Trae Young by betting on him to hit fewer than three triples on Thursday evening. Young has gone over this number against the Celtics just twice in six starts with Murray in the lineup. He has beaten it in just four of his 11 meetings (36.3%) with the Celtics since the start of last season as well. Let’s buy the under at -132 via FanDuel Sportsbook. Celtics-Hawks Game 6 NBA Player Prop | Clint Capela

Clint Capela O/U 18.5 Points & Rebounds

We’ll wrap up our card for Thursday’s NBA slate by fading Clint Capela. Atlanta’s center has struggled mightily to stay on the floor in this series, especially with the more versatile Onyeka Okongwu on the bench. Capela is averaging 8 points and 8 rebounds, so 16, over only 24.6 minutes player per game thus far. He has stayed under this number in two of the five games.

Capela’s struggles against Boston date back to long before the playoffs. He averaged only 9.5 points and 8.5 rebounds across two regular-season starts against the Celtics this year, good for only 18. He played 18 and 21 minutes in those games despite not getting into foul trouble as well. Capela’s playstyle isn’t well-suited for contemporary playoff basketball, and his underwhelming free-throw conversion rate of 60.3% makes him a liability from the charity stripe.

The Celtics will likely run Capela off the floor again on Thursday. He has recorded a positive box plus-minus rating just once this series, the only time he has done so against the Celtics all year. He owns a cumulative box plus-minus of -44 across the seven games he has played against Boston this season. In contrast, Okongwu has graded positively against Boston three times and owns a cumulative box plus-minus of -28 in a near-identical share of minutes.

The odds for this prop vary across the market, but most signs point to value on the under. DraftKings Sportsbook and some other public books have the odds for the under set to -110, but we can find this set to +100 via FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s take advantage of the better deal over there while the number remains on the board.
