Best Nets-Knicks Player Prop: Will Cameron Johnson Hit 3’s? (February 13)

After a tumultuous trade deadline, the Brooklyn Nets will face the New York Knicks on primetime this evening. The new-look Nets, much like the pre-superteam Nets, have a roster full of plucky underdogs. Bettors hunting out value for Monday’s Nets-Knicks action should tail this NBA player prop at DraftKings — the book has left too much value on the Cameron Johnson player prop markets. Best Nets-Knicks NBA Player Prop | Cameron Johnson

Cameron Johnson Prop O/U 2.5 3-Pointers

Gone are Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and T.J. Warren. Spencer Dinwiddie, Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson and Dorian Finney-Smith have replaced them. Although the Nets no longer have a superstar, they have a deep roster full of aggressive competitors who are used to winning. They’ll do their best to hold onto the playoff spot for which this team would currently qualify.

Although it’s hard to project exactly what Brooklyn’s rotations will look like moving forward, Johnson should play a sizeable role. He offers a skillset similar to Finney-Smith, who he started alongside on Monday, but is less hesitant to take shots. Johnson’s usage rate (19.7%) stands well above Finney-Smith’s (12.6%). He took 13 shots and recorded a usage rate of 22.9% in his Brooklyn debut. Finney-Smith took only eight and recorded a usage rate of 11.9%.

Johnson should benefit from tonight’s matchup. The Knicks have struggled to defend the perimeter all year, especially the corner, and Johnson can knock down 3’s from all over the floor. He ranks third among Brooklyn’s players in both corner 3’s (1.8) and above-the-break 3’s (4.2) attempted per game. He leads the team in 3-point shooting percentage (43.9%) as well, ahead of Finney-Smith (34.7%), Bridges (39.1%) and Joe Harris (42.3%).

More importantly, Johnson has dominated the Knicks when given the opportunity. He is yet to face them this year, but he averaged 5.5 3-pointers per game against them last year and racked up three in his lone start against them the year before that. Bettors should head to DraftKings Sportsbook to get the over at +130, by far the best deal on the market. New users at DraftKings can get $150 in bonus bets by winning a $5 moneyline wager!
