Bradley Beal Injury Update
Losing a player of Beal’s caliber will undoubtedly hurt the Wizards’ chances in the upcoming games. After Beal exited Tuesday after two quarters, Corey Kispert got some extra playing time and thrived. He scored 12 points on 2-of-5 shooting from 3-point range and is likely to see extended minutes in Beale’s absence.
“It’s tough,” Beal said after the game, per The Athletic. “It’s frustrating. I always preach, ‘Your best ability is your availability,’ and I haven’t been that. That piece is definitely frustrating, but I have to stay encouraged and understand that there’s still more that I can contribute to the game, be here for my teammates and just make sure that I’m 100 percent before I go back out here. It’s tough because we’re playing good ball. I want to be a part of that. I want to help the team win, continue to build on what we have going, our momentum.”
After the 123-113 loss to the Bucks that ended a five-game winning streak, the Wizards (17-22) are 11th in the Eastern Conference. They’ll now be without Beal for games against the Oklahoma City Thunder (Friday), New Orleans Pelicans (Monday) and Chicago Bulls (Wednesday). The soonest Beal would return would be next Friday against the New York Knicks.
The Wizards are 1.0-point underdogs against the Thunder on Friday (DraftKings).
