Mavericks NBA Playoffs Odds: Will Dallas Miss Out?

DraftKings Sportsbook has released odds on every team to reach the postseason. The Mavericks (+650) are now a large underdog to make the NBA Playoffs. Moreover, they are +125 to qualify for the Play-In Tournament, with sportsbooks now acknowledging the high possibility that the Mavs will be going home after the conclusion of the regular season.

At 37-41, the Mavericks now fall to 11th place in the Western Conference, one game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder for the last spot in the Play-In Tournament. The drop-off has to come as a huge surprise to the Mavericks’ brass, who went all in on this year’s team by acquiring star point guard Kyrie Irving at the Trade Deadline.

The Irving-Luka Doncic partnership has not gone well, with the Mavs losing five of their last six games to fall out of the playoff picture. Still, Doncic expressed his ‘hope’ that the team can right the ship and get back into contention before the postseason begins.

“Obviously there’s hope,” Doncic said following the latest crushing loss, per SI. “I always say you gotta hope till the last moment. You gotta believe you can make it so we gotta believe.”

The Mavericks were holding the No. 5 spot in the Western Conference before acquiring Irving in the trade and are clearly struggling to find the rhythm in clutch time with their new star-studded duo.

“The kind of nitpicking of judgment of what’s going on when someone says ‘I’m having human emotions’ and then it goes to ‘Who’s to blame?’ And then it starts pointing fingers… That’s the aspect that I don’t enjoy about this sport at all,” Irving said after the loss to the Heat, per Hoops Hype.

Despite the Mavs players’ optimism, they have set up a real uphill battle for themselves with the recent skid. With four games remaining, the Mavericks are going to have to play with some urgency, creating a “must-win” atmosphere from here on out. Dallas will have a quick chance to get the bad taste out of their mouths when they play a back-to-back against Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday night.

The Mavericks NBA Playoffs odds show their backs are up against the wall as they prepare for the final week.
