As of right now, it’s unclear when Fox suffered the injury. He finished Sacramento’s last game, a nailbiter loss to the Golden State Warriors, with 38 points on 14-for-31 from the field. Some reports have said Fox is believed to have suffered the injury halfway through the fourth quarter but stuck it out. Fox hit a number of clutch shots down the stretch and totaled 12 fourth-quarter points, including a crucial 3-pointer with only 28 seconds left in the game.
Fox, this year’s Clutch Player of the Year, has done a ton to get the Sacramento Kings this far. He led the team with 25 points per game on 51.2% from the field. The Kings were 0.7 points more efficient in all scenarios with him on the floor. FiveThirtyEight’s RAPTOR ratings had Fox ranked 29th overall in wins above replacement (7.7). Only one other member of the Kings, Domantas Sabonis, had a higher rating in the metric (8.4).
Warriors-Kings NBA Betting Predictions
De’Aaron Fox hasn’t been ruled out for Wednesday’s action yet. We’ve already seen New York’s Josh Hart play through a doubtful tag this postseason, so it would be foolish to treat the injury as a death sentence for Fox’s chances to play in Game 5. The fact he played through the entire fourth quarter is encouraging as well.
But if Fox doesn’t play, the much-maligned road Warriors are far more than 3.5 points better than the Kings. Sacramento played nine games without Fox and went a concerning 4-5. Their wins came against the Donovan Mitchell-less Cleveland Cavaliers, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Zion Williamson-less New Orleans Pelicans and post-deadline Utah Jazz.
Golden State has struggled on the road this year, but the Dubs should get their much-needed road win in Game 5. Bettors can find plenty of value on the spread at only -3.5 via DraftKings Sportsbook. Look for this number to close at around -5 or -5.5 if Fox gets ruled out. Bettors yet to register at DraftKings can earn $150 in bonus bets with a winning $5 moneyline wager.
