Joel Embiid MVP Odds: 76ers Big Man in Control
Per DraftKings Sportsbook, Joel Embiid (-700) has taken over as the heavy favorite over Nikola Jokic (+700) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (+750).
76ers coach Doc Rivers declared the MVP race over after Embiid carried the team to a win over an NBA championship contender Tuesday.
“We did so many things wrong,” Rivers said, per ESPN “but what we did right was Joel Embiid.
“The MVP race is over.”
Embiid now takes over the NBA scoring lead (33.3 points per game), is seventh in rebounds (10.2) and 22nd in field goal percentage (54.7%). He had his way with a tough Celtics defense from the jump, with a ridiculous 20-for-25 shooting performance proving to be the difference in a tightly contested matchup.
“I think the whole league’s trying to figure that out right now,” Celtics guard Derrick White said when asked how to stop Embiid. “So if you got any ideas, I think every other NBA team would like to know.”
The 76ers (52-27) currently hold the third spot in the Eastern Conference and figure to be a true NBA title contender with Embiid in top form. The big man was asked about the “MVP” chants from fans, along with the kind words from his head coach.
“They’re probably right,” Embiid said from the podium. “But we got bigger goals.”
Based on the latest Joel Embiid MVP odds, the race is all but over, and now the superstar can set his sights on making a deep run in the postseason.
